For those of us over 25, the word “occupation” meant a line of work that we studied and prepared for in order to provide a satisfactory standard of living for ourselves and our families. Today that same word has come to mean something entirely different. The Occupy Wall Street demonstrators use “occupation” to mean taking over certain spaces public or private in order to call attention to their belief that economic inequality should be leveled, regardless as to the reason for that disparity.
