Alan Miller joined Ancora in 2006 as a Portfolio Manager and Analyst. As a Portfolio Manager, Alan customizes client portfolios with the objective of establishing a sound investment strategy. He uses a combination of mutual funds, exchange traded funds, and in some cases covered call writing on selective equities in order to achieve the desired results.
His investment career began in 1973 as an investment consultant with an actuarial firm based in Cleveland, Ohio. There, Alan helped a select group of clients monitor and compare investment results, a fiduciary requirement under the ERISA Act of 1974.
In 1980, he began managing investment portfolios for pension and profit sharing clients. He was an early advocate of utilizing mutual funds to design an investment portfolio to meet pre-established investment objectives and goals, while at the same time achieving efficient diversification.
In 1994, Alan joined The Maxus Investment Group as Vice President and Portfolio Manager. At Maxus, he managed portfolios for individuals along with pension and profit sharing plans, and was President and Portfolio Manager of the Maxus Laureate Fund. After Maxus merged with Gelfand Partners in 1997, he was given the additional responsibility of managing a hedge fund. In 2001 Maxus was sold to Fifth Third Bank where Alan was Vice President and Director of the Fifth Third Worldwide Fund.
Alan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Ohio State University and a Masters of Business Administration from New York University majoring in Corporate Finance.
